Amen! It’s good to see that there’s at least some counter-effort in the war against salt. Even though I have asthma exacerbated by living in the Ohio Valley Smogbowl that is Louisville, KY, I’m one of the healthiest people I know (low blood pressure, resting heart rate 60 BPM, excellent aerobic endurance) -- *and* I ingest way more salt than quite a few of my less-healthy friends. Of course, I also lose a lot of salt sweating on the bike … but I have long suspected that the war against salt stems from that human tendency to confuse correlation with causation.

As for me: bring on the pickles and salty post-ride pretzels! I have electrolytes to replace :D

I am 69 and I have always used salt! Last couple years have used Sea Salt that is processed so as to keep the natural minerals in it. LOVE IT! I get the Iodine PLUS other beneficial minerals. Food without salt is awful, and I use lots of black pepper. I do NOT have high BP, though I am overweight and have low thyroid, and take Armour for it. Have given up ALL wheat products, and other grains except for flax seed and flax flour, coconut and almond flour, and weight is coming off naturally. Low thyroid probably due to FLUORIDE in toothpaste for 60+ years, as it is an endocrine disruptor. Use another product, NO fluoride!
